As in the previous entry I have told about sitting and why is it a sedentary behavior so now let me tell you another sedentary behavior which is watching television for a long time. Yes, this is another shocking statement that I have come out after the 'sitting disease'.
There are so much programs that can be watched in television and everything is on TV regardless lifestyle, history, science and even education. So, why using so much energy just to find a piece of information that is on TV?
Usually this kind of behavior is among children and teens but in certain cases also, there is case for adults. Kaiser Family Foundation as cited in Kids Health from Nemours (1995) stated that two third of infant and under 6 years old kids spend 2 hours on media screen, and teens tend to spend almost 4 hours of watching. This shown that those who are in the growing process tend to watch more. Picture shown percentage of children who watched TV 4 hours or more on weekdays.

This, however conclude that children watched television for a very long time thus, leads to sedentary lifestyle. TV can entertain but somehow it also has the power to lead you to a sedentary lifestyle and also influence your kids.
